Losing Pitcher: Bob Gomez 8-3
Leading Hitters: Charlie Silvas 1-4, 2B, 1run; Josh Cosby 1-1, 1 RBI; Jaime Ruelas 1-3.

From the Coach: Game one was delayed by 30 minutes or so because of a power failure. But the Sinton Pirates needed no lights tonight, they just came out swinging and displayed one of South Texas best pitchers in Adrian Alaniz. Other than the big second inning our kids played well. We just have to figure out a way to hit Alaniz if we are to succeed in this series. Game Two will be at home under friendly conditions. Our kids backs are against the wall but I feel they will come out and give the home town folks a good showing. Lost in all of this is the great job Mario Chavera did in stopping the Pirates. Mario pitched 3 scoreless innings. Saturday will be the first playoff game in Fal since 1988, we can't wait to see our fans come out and root for the green team.

Game #30

2 5 2

Losing Pitcher: Josh Cosby 5-3, 6 Ks
Leading Hitters: D.C. Salinas 1-3, 1 RBI; Trey Garcia 1-3; Bob Gomez 1-2; Jaime Ruelas 1-3; Joe Guerra 1-3, 2B, 1 run; Jason Alegria 1 run.

From the Coach: Well, what is that old saying "hit 'em where they ain't"? Sinton's winning hit happened to be on a swinging bunt that landed 10' down the line in no mans land. There is another saying in baseball, "sometimes it is better to be lucky than good". In this case Sinton, ranked #2 in the state, was good and lucky and that's what you need to get to Austin.

Lost in this great game was the effort of this team and the pitching of Josh Cosby. Our kids played their hearts out and just about pulled it off. It just seems that we started last week but the season came to and end Saturday. I am very proud of this group that accomplished more than anticipated-making the playoffs, bi-district champs 7th year in a row, and winning another 20 games. Congratulations goes out to six great seniors. They are Charlie Silvas, Josh Cosby, Jaime Ruelas, Mike Alvarado, Jason Alegria, and Joe Guerra. This group demonstrated the true meaning of being a team member. What they leave behind is a tradition of winning regardless of the obstacles. Do not be surprised to see several of these players at the next level.

Making the All-District team this year are Charlie Silvas, Josh Cosby, Trey Garcia, D.C. Salinas, Bob Gomez, Jaime Ruelas, and Homer Villarreal.

Well Mr. Pulido, I again thank you for all you do for our program. We look forward to next year when 6 starters return and 3 of your 4 pitchers come back. Our goal has been set already — we want our title back! I would lastly like to conclude that I have been honored by being selected to coach the South All-Stars this June in Round Rock. I feel extremely honored by being selected by my peers throughout the state of Texas. I will take with me the heart of every player that ever played for me and the memory of coach Eliseo Ramos who taught me the game of high school baseball. Until next year, keep them swinging and make sure you touch 'em all.
