Losing Pitcher: Homer Villarreal
Leading Hitters: Danny Duarte 1-4; D.C. Salinas 1-2; Bobby Gomez
2-4, 3 rbi's, hr; Trey Garcia 1-1; Marcus Castillo 1-3.
From the Coach: We had them
where we wanted them to be but couldn't bring'em in and we booted
the ball around in the 3rd and 5th. Our kids have to come through
when the opportunites arise. We had 7 runners in scoring position.
Homer Villarreral pitched a good game allowing only 4 hits. We
are going through some growing pains and dealing with several
key injuries and possibly added another one Friday. We got Bishop
at home Tuesday and they are also coming off a loss to Hebbronville,
so this is a big game for both of us with no time to feel sorry
about anything. We'll put nine out there and they will give it
thier best.

Winning Pitcher: Mario Chavera
11 k's
Leading Hitters: Robby Regalado 1-3, 1rbi; Homer Villarreal 1-3;
D.C. Salinas 1-2, 2b; Marcus Castillo 1-2, 3b, 3 rbis; Danny
Duarte 1-3; Clayton Boerjan 1-3.
From the Coach: Our kids responded
with the character I knew they had. This was a big win for us.
In this district you must win your home games. In a game that
was to feature the top 2 pitchers in the area - Bobby Gomez and
Roel Saldana, Mario Chavera stole the show with a 11 strike out
outing. Both ace pitchers are nursing injuries and will be a
difference in the second half of this race. Marcus Castillo 2
out triple in the 6th was the big hit we had to have. Getting
the timely hits and playing good defense was the difference from
tonight versus our last outing. From here we go to San Diego
which upset us last year. I saw a change in our kids body language
and I hope this will snow ball toward a good little run in district.

Winning Pitcher: Danny Duarte;
save: Bobby Gomez
Leading Hitters: D.C. Salinas 2-4, 2 rbi's; James Vera 2-3, 1
rbi; Danny Duarte 1-4, 2 rbi's; Bobby Gomez 1-3, 1 rbi; Homer
Villarreal 1-4, 2 rbi's; Roli Gutierrez 1-1, 1 rbi; Marcus Castillo
1-3; Robby Regalado sac fly, rbi.
From the Coach: Good pitching,
getting on base, and no errors equal a big win. Our kids played
with a lot more confidence tonight. Danny Duarte, Santana Mejia,
and Bobby Gomez did a great job on the mound and our defense
played errorless ball. The best news didn't come till Saturday
morning when Bobby Gomez came to practice with no pain in his
shoulder after pitching 1 inning after a 3 week layoff due to
an injury. Well, this Tuesday we play the best team in this district,
the Hebbronville Longhorns. Coach Gonzie Trevino has done a tremendous
job with that team in one year. The good news is that the game
is at home and we are playing better. This game is all about
pride and respect for the game.

Robby Regalado 1 rbi.
From the Coach: What a game,
emotions and tensions went up and down. Our kids hit the ball
better tonight and we pitched a better game also. Good pitching
and good hitting more times than not gets you a win. Now we are
tied with Hebbronville for second. Zapata in first at 4-0. Hebbronville
and Zapata play Friday and we go to a tough Orange Grove team.

1-2; Milan Guerra 1-1; Zeke Lopez 1-2; Trey Garcia 1-2, Marcus
Castillo 1-2; Roli Gutierrez 1-3.
From the Coach: Tonight we had
our hitting shoes on and Mario Chavera was on. Orange Grove could
never get anything going and our team as a whole had a good offensive
outing. The best news came from Hebbronville as they defeated
Zapata 5-4 to make it a 3 way tie for first between ourselves,
Hebbronville, and Zapata all with a 4-1 record. We start the
second half Tuesday at home versus Zapata.

2-3, 1 rbi; Roli Gutierrez 1-2, 2 rbi's.
From the Coach: Bobby Gomez
is back and our team plays like another team with him on the
mound. What started out to be a pitching duel turned out to be
an offensive explosion for our team. Our kids executed Jersey
Baseball and Bobby Gomez took care of the rest. We next travel
to Bishop which has been tough at home over the years. Game is
scheduled for Monday due to our district track meet scheduled
on Tuesday and Wednesday. This Friday there is no game due to
regional U.I.L. competition. This was a big win for our team
and not playing til next Monday will help us prepare for Bishop.

Winning Pitcher: Homer Villarreal
5-2; Bobby Gomez save #4
Leading Hitters: D.C. Salinas 1-4, rbi; Bobby Gomez 1-2, hr;
Clayton Boerjan1-3; Trey Garcia 1-3; Roli Gutierrez 1-2.
From the Coach: The game started
with a bomb hit by Bobby Gomez over the right centerfield fence.
The rest of the game was a pitching duel between Kyle Richey
and Homer Villarreal and Bobby Gomez. The pitchers combined for
a total of 25 k's. D.C Salinas' two out rbi single in the 5th
iced the game away. This win clinched a playoff spot for our
ballclub. This will be the 8th in a row and 12 out of the last
13 years. This Thursday we play San Diego at home, it will be
parents' night and teacher appreciation night. We are two wins
away from another district championship which is our next goal.
Congratulations to our kids, it has been an uphill battle since
losing our first district game. The district standing are: Fal
6-1, Zapata 5-2, Hebbronville 5-2, Bishop 3-4, Orange Grove 2-5,
and San Diego 0-7.

Winning Pitcher: Mario Chavera
5-2, 7 k's
Leading Hitters: D.C. Salinas 1-4; Bobby Gomez 2-4, 2 rbi's;
Marcus Castillo 1-2, 2 rbi's; Freddy Trevino 1-1, 1 rbi; Roli
Gutierrez 2-3; Milan Guerra 1-1, 1 rbi.
From the Coach: Well, win number
7 in district was not pretty but it was a win against a San Diego
team that just won't quit. Mario Chavera struggled tonight but
got some big strike outs when he needed them. Roli Gutierrez
and Bobby Gomez stayed hot with the bats and our kids played
good defense. With two games to go in district we just clinched
as least a tie for 2nd place. This Tuesday night at Hebbronville,
we will try to capture at least a co-district championship. The
district standings are Fal 7-1, Zapata 6-2, Hebbronville 6-2
and the rest are mathematically out. Happy Easter Jersey Fans!!!

Winning Pitcher: Bobby Gomez

Leading Hitters: D.C. Salinas 3-4, 1 rbi; Bobby Gomez 1-3; Clay
Boerjan 2 rbi's; Homer Villarreal 3 rbi's; Trey Garcia 2 rbi's;
Marcus Castillo 3-3, 3 rbi's; Roli Gutierrez 1-2, 1 rbi; Freddy
Trevino 1-3.
From the Coach: After Danny
Duarte drew the opening walk and D.C. Salinas attempted sac bunt
turned into a hit as their pitcher slipped off the mound, the
rest was history. Everything seemed to go our way and not Hebbronville's
way. Add the bad luck and Bobby Gomez on the mound and you got
the making of a 10 run rule game. Congratulations to our kids
they now have a share of the crown. To win another district title
in Hebbronville, where my mentor Eliseo Ramos once coached, was
special to me. This Saturday we go for the outright championship
as we host Orange Grove on senior night and the 10 yr reunion
of the 1993 state runner-ups. After tonight the standings look
like this Fal 8-1, Zapata 7-2, Hebbronville 6-3, Bishop 4-5,
Orange Grove 2-7, and San Diego 0-9. Congratulations again BIG
GREEN!

Winning Pitcher: Homer Villarreal
6-2, Mario Chavera save.
Leading Hitters: Zeke Lopez 1-1, 1 rbi; Bobby Gomez 2-2, 2b,
2 rbi's; Clay Boerjan 1-2; Homer Villarreal 2-3, 3 rbi's; Trey
Garcia 1-2, 3 rbi's; Roli Gutierrez 2-2, 1 rbi; Freddy Trevino
1-3, 1 rbi.
From the Coach: After a shaky
start to a very special night, our kids turned on the light switch
and the rest was history. In front of the '93 state runner up
team, this team showed flashes of that 93 team. Good defense,
good pitching, and alot of key hits. Congratulations to our kids
for accomplishing something not many experts predicted them to
do and that was to win another district championship. A lot of
credit goes to our senior leadership. When Bobby Gomez was hurt,
Homer Villarreal and Mario Chavera carried this team along with
the others that pitched in with hits and great defense. Well,
this makes it 7 out of the last 8 and 12 out of the last 14 years.
By winning the championship, we get a first round bye in the
playoffs. We will play the winner of the Mathis / Pearsall series
sometime next week. Again congratulations big green - THE TRADITION
CONTINUES.
