Comments: We let this one get away from us. Bobby did an outstanding job but our defense failed him. We had our chance in the 7th with bases loaded and Zeke Lopez up. He hit a ball up the middle and their Division I shortstop made a big play on a dive and threw Zeke out at first. We may have lost the game but kids came out of this game knowing they could play with anyone because King is for real. We now play Laredo United, the host team.

Comments: Our kids showed a lot of character with a big win after a disappointing loss. We are still in the hunt for our pool championship with a game with undefeated Monterrey Tech, Mexico next.

Comments: This was our biggest win of the season. We beat a great team. We did it with emotion and confidence. We win our pool and advance to the championship bracket. We now face Laredo Alexander in 30 minutes and the game is across town at the Sac Center.

Comments: Our kids tried but our pitching is depleted and playing 30 minutes after the big win was tough on our kids. We now play Corpus Christi Ray for 3rd place and we got no idea who to pitch and our kids are running on fumes.

Comments: After playing since 2 and walking off the field at 11:30 p.m., I can honestly say our kids left it all in Laredo. We are very proud on how they played in this tough 20 team tournament and being the only 3-A school there says a lot for our kids. So we got fourth place and we continue to work on getting 1st place in district. We now travel to Mercedes to play Port Isabel on Thursday. The Edouch Elsa game was postponed due to schedule conflicts. Things are looking good Jersey fans, this could be one of those years.

Comments: Our kids were looking forward to playing a 3-A school after seeing all the big boys this past weekend in Laredo. P.I. presented us a challenge, as they, too, have established a winning tradition. We jumped on them early and Bobby Gomez took care of the rest in a 15 run rule game. We now face the Los Fresnos Falcons, a winner over Roma.

Comments: Well, we made this game exciting by not playing sound defense and not throwing strikes. I can honestly say we lost focus and Los Fresnos took advantage it. We found out tonight that our two freshmen can handle the pressure as shortstop Mario Ramirez went 2-3, and pitcher Jason Garcia came in relief of Gilbert Vela and struck out the side in the fourth. We now advance to the championship game against either La Feria or McAllen Memorial. Our kids are looking forward to defending their title.

Comments: A valley newspaper put it best, this tournament can be summed up in two words Bobby Gomez. The left hander struck out 21 batters in 9 innings in two outing and had a great tournament at the plate. Don't get me wrong we are not a one man team because Roli Gutierrez, Santana Mejia, Mario Ramirez, and Zeke Lopez also had a good tournament, as did sophmore pitcher Gilbert Vela and freshmen pitcher Jason
Garcia. Making the all tournament team were Bobby Gomez, Santana Mejia, and Roli Gutierrez. Our team enjoys going to this tournament because the people of Mercedes always recieve us with open arms and have so much respect for our program it is an honor to go back and put on the best show of baseball we can. We now await our rivials from Premont this Thursday night in our opening game of our tournament. We have some great teams coming, so it will be a challenge to defend our title. The game versus George West has been postponed due to schedule conflicts. We will play GW later. Again, Congratulations Big Green, and keep'em swinging!

Comments: In front of the biggest crowd of the tournament, the Premont Cowboys gave us all we could handle. Jose Lopez did a great job of keeping us off stride and Bobby Gomez showed why he is one of the best around. This game was about our kids learning to deal with playing a rival. Kids now a days get caught up in talking about playing the rival and not playing the game. Our kids have to learn that the game of baseball doesn't know or care who Premont or Fal is. It is going to do what the players do with it. In other words its got a mind of its own. Once we settled down and played, we took advantage of a couple of errors and got a big hit by Santana and we sneaked one out on a very good Premont team. We now play our last year area rival Mathis.

Comments: Our kids played well against a playoff caliber team. Our defense played errorless and Gilbert Vela continues to be consistent on the mound. We got key hits and showed discipline at the plate. We now face Hidalgo for the championship.

Comments: What a tournament. We had four South Texas best playoff schools from last year and they did not disappoint anyone. George West vs. Mathis for 3rd place with Mathis winning, and two of the states top 20 - 3A schools in the finals. Hidalgo had more firepower tonight but I give our kids credit they fought till the end. This will be a lasting experience for our kids. We left Jersey Field more determined than ever before. Making the all tourney team were Bobby Gomez, Santana Mejia, and Roli Gutierrez. We now face Corpus Christi Miller on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.

Comments: Wow, what a display of hitting by both teams. It looked everyone was hitting them where nobody could get to them. Let's give Miller credit for hitting the ball and give our kids credit for knowing how to handle an offensive game of this type. In the end, a couple of defensive plays made the difference. Well, we now go to Aviator Field to face powerful Victoria and Carroll. This should be a great experience for our kids and great preparation for district.

Comments: We just did not play up to the level we had to in order to compete with this team. We didn't hit the ball and made errors when the game was on the line. Our kids were not focused and missing two of our stars due to injuries had an effect on young kid's minds. We'll try it again tomorrow versus CC Carroll.

Comments: Well, what can I say but here we go again. We had this game under control but our youth showed up in critical times of this game. When you're missing two all state players you're missing alot of fire power for a 3-A school. Let's give Carroll credit, they did exactly what they had to. I'll say this about our kids, we haven't backed down to anyone and they have played a tough non-district schedule. We got one more game with Beeville before district starts. We have to get healthy and wiser by Friday.

Comments: Just when we felt things starting to change on us, we go back to the same old song we've been hearing lately. Too many errors and too many mistakes by our young pitchers. I'll say this our kids played with more intensity than they have in a long time. We got to go back to practice and do the little things right and pray our pitchers get healthy or our young ones learn quickly. We start district Friday at home versus Zapata.
