Comments: It's playoff time and all the jitters and emotions come out to play in the game. I felt our kids played well defensively when we had to and I also know that making 3 errors will cost us a game down the road. So all in all it was a good learning experience for our young kids and they made some great plays also. Danny Duarte had a no hitter going into the 7th and picked off 3 runners off 1st base giving him a very good outing. A great coach once said it doesn't matter how many hits you get in a game, what matters is when you get them. We happen to get our 3 when they were key. I also know that we have to hit the ball better if we plan to continue playing in these playoffs. Well, tomorrow we play at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi home of the Hooks. Our kids are looking forward to this and wanting to wrap up the series, but I got a feeling Mathis is going to have a lot to say about it. They have a good team and Pablo Rivas also had a good game. Game time is 4 :00 with game 3 if needed 30 min later. Congratulations to our kids for getting our 20th win. This is one of our goals every year and it identifies you as having a good year and a good team.

Winning Pitcher: Ruben Cisneros in relief of Gilbert Vela in the 3rd, game closed by Santana Mejia in the 7th.
Leading Hitters: Jason Garcia 1-5, Danny Duarte 1-4, Santana Mejia 4-5 hr, Zeke Lopez 2-5, 3b, Juan Carlos Garcia 1-5, Trey Alegria 2-3, Reese Forest 2-4, Mario Ramirez 2-4.
Comments: What a beautiful ballpark - Whataburger Field. It was a tremendous experience for our kids to play at a major league park. 99.9% of our kids may never have the opportunity to play at a park like this one. As far as the game is concerned, we made too many errors to compete at the next round. Thank God for our bats and pitching or this could of been a long day. Ruben Cisneros came in and did a job on the mound and Santana Mejia was on offensively with the first H.S. homerun at Whataburger Field. We got to get back to playing more consistently on defense and with our pitching, because Valley View, our next opponent, is very good and they will make us pay for it. The series starts Friday in Mission at 7:30 and the second game Saturday at Kingsville at 4:00 p.m.
