Comments: Welcome back jersey baseball fans. 2005 looks to be an exciting one for us. We come into the season ranked 8th in the state and we return quite a few kids. Our first challenge was a big one as we played the 23rd ranked team in class 5a. It was a tough game and I was proud on how our kids played and how Gilbert pitched. We just didn’t hit enough to win the game. I am very curious to see how this new team reacts to this tough defeat. We will play an old rival in Hebbronville next.

Comments: Our kids responded the way I felt they would. We hit the ball better and we continue to get good pitching. Our defense has improved from game to game and Jason did a tremendous job in pitching the one hitter. We now play another 5a in Laredo LBJ.

Game ended in a tie due to time limit and one extra inning.

Comments: LBJ is a much improved team from last year and we found out quickly. We just are not hitting like we are capable of. Our pitching has been outstanding and our defense has not let us down. We’ll we get to go home now and work on some things we got to correct and get better as a group. We came out of this tournament a little disappointed because of the expectations this program puts on itself but we got to see some goods things happen also. On a bad note outfielder Mario Ramirez broke his middle finger while batting and will be out for 4-6 weeks. We next play Edcouch Elsa on Tuesday at home.

Comments: I knew our kids were about to explode with their bats and they hit the ball very well tonight. I felt that our baserunning was excellent tonight as we took everything they gave us. Our pitching continues to shine as Trey pitched a one hitter and our defense continues to play very steady. We now travel to Mercedes to face Port Isabel on Thursday which will match up two proven 3a programs.

Comments: This was a good game by 2 very good 3-A teams. I give them credit and I give our kids credit for coming through when they had to. Reese Forest's big 2 run home run in the 6th put us back in the game. Unfortunately we had a balk called in the 7th that gave them one more runner reaching 3rd and they advanced to the winners side and we went to the consolation side of the tournament. Again, I felt our pitching did good enough to win but we didn't adjust to the slow pitching in critical situations in the game. We now go on to play a very good Brownsville St. Joe team with wins over some good 5-A schools in the valley.

Comments: Our kids were very disappointed with the outcome of last night's game and they had something to prove. We again had to adjust to slow pitching which most teams are throwing at us. Santana Mejia threw alot better tonight and our defense continues to be one of better one's I've had here at Fal. We now play McAllen Memorial for the consolation championship.

Comments: Our kids continue to be unsatisfied with having to play for consolation but we had a challenge from 5-A McAllen Memorial. The kids took out their fustrations on two memorial pitchers and Jason Garcia pitched like a veteran. Zeke Lopez finally exploded and our run totals also increased. I am very proud on the performance of our kids after a very disappointing way Thursday's game ended. We would have liked to have finished the game on the field but that's the way the tournament is setup. We now face a very tough Riviera team at home on Monday and then we host our tournament. We also want to congratulate our Belles softball team for a championship win in the Corpus Christi Tournament after beating Aransas Pass and a special congratulations goes to UT Pan Am Bobby Gomez after pitching 6 scoreless innings against Illinois Saturday night. Our kids got to see their ex-team pitcher represent them with class and the ability to say I belong here. So our record goes to 4-1-2 not bad but no way satisfied. Zeke Lopez was named to the all tourney team.

Comments: What a matchup. Riviera came into the game as one of the hottest teams in south Texas with wins over some good 4-A and 3-A teams. What seemed to be a pitchers duel became a slugfest and both defenses had the Monday night blues. Danny Duarte did a great job on one of the best hitting teams we have seen this year. We now get ready for our tournament on Thursday with a game against our friends to the north, the Premont Cowboys.

Comments: What an atmosphere! I don't care how good either one of us are, when we play, people get all exicted and tonight was no exception. A full house saw a pitcher's duel for one inning and then our kids adjusted to Mario Gonzales' curveball and the rest was history. It was a big win for us and I know Premont did not play their best game but they will do just fine in their district. Gilbert Vela had some tightness in his arm so I pulled him out and brought in Santana Mejia to combine for the no hitter. We now play district foe San Diego in round two. Other winners today were Mathis over Hebbronville 14-8 and Laredo LBJj over Edcouch Elsa 7-3.

Comments: San Diego came out swinging and our kids were a little flat from the Premont Game. We put the ball in play and took advantage of some critical San Diego errors. Our pitching continues to be good enough to win and our kids have adjusted well to the off speed stuff. I'd like to congratulate our Belles Softball team also on their win and for a great first night softball game in school history. Well, tomorrow we will face Laredo LBJ which we tied in the Border Olympics. Our kids are looking forward to the challenge.

Comments: Our kids had something to prove to themselves and to Laredo LBJ. This afternoon there was no question who was the better team. We hit the ball well and all three pitchers did a good job on stopping a hot team in the tournament. Our kids continue to make the routine plays and that makes winning a whole lot eaiser. Well, we now get ready for our last week before district. We play CC King Friday at Aviator Stadium. Speaking of Aviator Staduim our own Charlie Silvas made the cut and made the team. Congratulations to our freshmen and j.v. teams as they both made the finals at the Hebbronville Tournament and guess what the freshmen beat the j.v. 6-4, interesting ride home. Other winners at our tournament were Mathis over San Diego 16-4 for 3rd place, Hebbronville over Premont 11-10 for Consolation and Edcouch Elsa beat Premont 12-1. Making the all tournament team for us were Zeke Lopez, Trey Alegria, Milan Guerra, Santana Mejia, and Danny Duarte.

Comments: What a game! Our kids showed a lot of character today. Beating a King team with great pitching was quite an accomplishment for our kids. We finally break the Aviator Field jinks. Danny pitched a great game and our kids hit the ball when they had to. Falling behind by two to this team and coming back showed what this team is all about. We now go on to play Miller in a couple of hours. This is a situation I was looking for. It will put our kids in a situation they may face down the road should we make the playoffs. How do they react to the big win? Will they be satisfied or continue to improve before district play next Tuesday?

Comments: Well, I got my answer. This team handled my challenge with pride and like a championship team. We continue to see the ball very well and our pitchers continue to eliminate walking batters. The only disappointment I have is we let our guard down defensively. This team is hitting, and pitching very well right now and with district next Tuesday against Zapata, I feel our kids are ready to defend their title. I am obiviously very happy with our non district season performances, but from now on every game is critical. Hey, I would like to congratulate our J.V. and Freshmen teams for reaching the finals of our J.V. tournament. This is the second tourney in a row that they play each other in the finals. The J.V. got their revenge for last weeks loss. This speaks volumes for our kids and program. Congratulations to Jersey baseball for a great week of baseball.
