Comments: What an atmosphere for a high school game. Two of the top teams from Region 4 going after it. All I can say is our kids came to play tonight. We hit the ball and Santana Mejia wanted the ball and showed why. With 10 Ks Santana kept Valley View hitters off stride all night. Danny Duarte and Zeke Lopez got the two big blows of the night and from there on we just held on to our lead. Winning game one gives you more options and lets you play a little more relaxed if you can in this atmosphere. Valley View is a very dangerous team and we have a long way to go before we celebrate anything. Game two is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. in Kingsville.

Game #2
5/21/2005 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9  R H E
Valley View 3 0 0 0 0 0 1 - - 4 4 4
Falfurrias 0 2 0 7 0 0 x - - 9 9 2

Winning Pitcher: Ruben Cisneros came in the bottom of the first in relief of Gilbert Vela. Ruben is 3-0.
Leading Hitters: Jason Garcia 2-4, Danny Duarte 1-4, Santana Mejia 2-4 2b, Zeke Lopez 1-3, Reese Forest 2-3, Mario Ramirez 1-3.
Comments: This game didn't start the way we would of like our games to start but our kids kept their cool and rallied back for a big win. Gilbert Vela just couldn't get it going and Ruben Cisneros came in and did a great job as well as our defense. We made the plays to get out of some possible big innings for Valley View. Our hitting continues to carry us. This was a big series against a very good ballclub. What Ruben did this afternoon was incredible. Valley View was one of the best hitting teams we had seen all year. Well, we go on to the semi-finals against West Columbia which is located south of Houston. The series is set for Thursday and Saturday at Aviator Field in Robstown. Plans were made to solve graduations for us and them. This is where we wanted to be since we left the field against Llano last year. So in many ways it's time to make good what we wanted to do all along. We wanted to get back to the semi's and this time take care of business. We'll get our chance but it will be an enormous challenge against a loaded pitching staff from West Columbia. The exciting part of this game is that we get 21 chances to make it happen. It will be a treat to be playing baseball even if school is over, that just means we are having a great season.
