Comments: Hello Jersey Fans, the 2006 baseball season got underway this Thursday at the Border Olympics. Our team played an errorless game and we capitalized on every mistake LBJ made. It was great to start the year with a big win. This team will be interesting to watch. They are very talented but have so many questions to answer before this season is done with. Comments: Gilbert Vela "mama" sent a message to area teams that he is ready for the 2006 season and our defense continued to play errorless. This team continues to score runs and everything is falling in place for this young team. This team is starting to form an identity of a good team. Comments: Well, our pitching streak came to an end and Reagan's hitting streak started. Our young pitchers could not hold a powerful hitting Reagan offense. Our kids continue to hit the ball and score runs but it all starts with pitching and defense and we did not do any of these things well today. Comments: Well, this was a tough game but our kids outlasted Calhoun mentally. It really was a sloppy game played by both teams but Trey pitched well, we made some key defensive plays, and our bats got hits at the right time. I take with me from this tournament that this team has the potential to be very good but it must first master consistency. Leaving Laredo with a 3-1 record is about as good as it gets unless you win it all. We now go home to host Flour Bluff this Tuesday.

Comments: Our kids had their hitting shoes on tonight and we got to get most of our pitchers some work. The pitchers combined for 11 k's. Eric Silvas and Andrew Rodriquez continue to hit the ball solid. Our kids came in focused and ready to get after it. This team must learn how to use home field advantage to our benefit. We now travel to the Mercedes Tourney this Thursday with a game against San Benito. Our goal going into the tourney is to bring back the championship that got away from us last year.

Comments: This one was a character builder. When you are down to your last at bat and come through with 4 runs to win it, it shows signs that this team has some championship qualities. A two out 2b by Andrew Rodriquez was the difference tonight because we could not figure out San Benito's lefty tonight. Great job also by Gilbert Vela as he settled down for 8 k's after a rough start. Game 2 vs. Mercedes.

Comments: We started out on fire scoring 2 runs every inning and then we lost focus and let a good team like Mercedes get back into the game. Jason pitched a good game but lost control in the third but regained it in the 4th. Our kids saw the ball a lot better tonight. Well, we now reached our goal of getting to the championship game and taking a shot at regaining the title. Our opponent will be Port Isabel.

Comments: Mission accomplished - win the Mercedes Tourney. Our kids were excited about playing against their first 3a team this year. PI and us always have good games versus each other but tonight we had the better night. Ruben Cisneros pitched his best game of the year and our kids had their hitting shoes on. We now play Riviera on Monday at Riviera. This will be another good test for us on the road. Congratulations to Trey Alegria, Jason Garcia, Andrew Rodriquez, and Ruben Cisneros for making the All Tourney Team and most importantly to the Falfurrias Fightin Jerseys 2006 KC of Mercedes Tournament Champions.

Comments: Our goal tonight was to get our pitchers some work in order to set our rotation for our tournament this Thursday. Trey, Gilbert and Jason pitched well. Our kids hit the ball well especially the lower part of the order. We hit a very good pitcher tonight in Joe Hibler. Our defense had a couple of lapses but all in all it was a very good win. Now we get ready for our tournament opener on Thursday versus Mathis at 7:30.

Comments: This game did not start out the way we would like for it to but it woke us up and we responded back after giving up 2 runs. Smiley Alegria had a perfect night and Trey settled down after a shaky first. It was a big win and gets us to the semi-finals versus Benavides an upset winner over Premont. Other winners today were George West and Flour Bluff.

Comments: We were off to a slow start offensively but gilbert vela pitched another quality start. Our offense came alive and we had our running shoes on tonight. Trey Alegria had a great night with a 3 for 3 night which included a grand slam. Well, we are now in the championship game where we wanted to be. Our opponent will be a familiar foe in Flour Bluff. In other games, Premont advanced to the consolation championship with a win over Mathis and San Diego also advance to the consolantion championship with a win over Edcouch Elsa. Flour Bluff beat George West, therefore George West and Benavides will play for 3rd place.

Comments: This was an ugly win. We just didn't run the bases right and we made too many mistakes on defense. This team is too good for this type of preformance but we are hitting the ball well to make up for our miscues and our pitching has carried us all year long. Trey pitched well when he had to and we made a couple of double plays to get us out of some big jams. This one is done and hopefully we learn from it and get better. Our next opponent CC Miller is playing very competitive this year and we will have to get after it if we expect to experience victory tomorrow.

Comments: The preparation for district is in the books. We now are looking straight at Zapata our 1st district game. 13 -1 record I'll take any year. I still have concerns about our defense but our hitting has come through all year long as has our pitching. Tuesday's game is huge, winning on the road against your main competition will put extra pressure on Zapata. Either way you look at it, it should be a great game.
