Regional Semi-Final Game #1

May 25, 2006 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9  R H E
Falfurrias Jerseys 1 0 0 1 0 0 x - - 2 5 1
West Columbia 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 - - 1 11 1

Losing Pitcher: Gilbert Vela 10-2
Leading Hitters: Jason Garcia 1-3 run, Smiley Alegria 1-3, Trey Alegria 2-3 rbi, David Munoz 1-2, Mario Ramirez rbi.
Comments: What a game. Gilbert made pitches when he had to and we capitalized on every opportunity we got to win this one. Our defense was solid again tonight and it just seemed that West Columbia got things started with two outs or a lead off out and just could not put things together or if you look at from our side we did not let them put things together by making plays or making good pitches. This was a big win and it will allows us to have some comfort playing in Victoria tomorrow.

Comments: Just when you think you have seen it all, you get a game like this one. The Houston Astros and the Braves have nothing on this one. We saw a great high school game with two teams determined to win. After 3.5 hrs and 11 innings later the good Lord blessed us with one of the biggest wins in this school's history. We can not say enough about the will and desire of our kids. We had kids cramping, throwing up, cleated, pulling muscles — you name it, we had it, but our desire prevailed in the end. Jason Garcia pitched us to victory on pure determination and his teammates did not let his efforts go to waste. We now wait the winner of Sinton series. Well folks, we get back to where we left a lot of tears last year and that was at the regional finals. We get another opportunity to finish what we just could not finish last year. Our kids and staff feel very good going into the next series. We have been battle tested and prepared for almost anything. My staff did a great job in scouting and helping me prepare these kids to succeed. Having coach Sandy Guerra back is huge also. And of course having the Jersey nation backing us up is a big key to our success. We thank all of you and ask for your support and I pray that the good Lord blesses us with the opportunity to show the state of Texas who has the best baseball fans.
