Comments: Welcome back Jersey Fans! The 2007 Fightin' Jersey baseball team kicked off the season just like we wanted to. This victory was a good one over a good playoff 5-A ballclub. This team is starting to gel and each player is trying to find his place in the puzzle. Good pitching, good defense, and timely hitting were the keys today.

Comments: Wow, hold on to those state tickets. Our kids learned a valuable lesson today. There is nothing certain in baseball. You got to earn everything you get. Cigarroa played the game they had to and we played into their hands. Let's see how this team responds to the loss. The beauty of early tournaments is you get to see what these kids are made of.

Comments: We learn really quick that this team was really upset about how they played earlier today. They came out and played a great game, just like I wanted them to. Great senior leadership and some great desire to be the best they could be was displayed in this game.

Comments: Here's the deal. If we win, there will be a three way tie in our pool. In order for us to advance we had to score some runs and not let Nixon score more than 4. Well, the first surprise showed up in the form of Mario Ramirez as he pitched a 2 hitter on his first h.s. start. Our kids were challenged and rose to the occasion. Everything we had to do we did so now we advance to the semi finals against Austin Crockett.

Comments: Well, surprise number two showed up in the form of smiley alegria. In his first start he pitched 5 strong innings against a great hitting team. We played great defense and got some timely hitting. Well, we now go the championship for the third time in school history. This team already won as many games as any team I have taken to the Border Olympics. We go on to face S.A. Reagan... a team that ripped us apart last year. My only worry was our pitching. Going into game 6 of the tournament and game three of this day is quite a bit to ask for a 3-A school with 12 players, but our kids would give it a shot.

Comments: S.A. Reagan was the better team tonight. Our kids have nothing to be ashamed of. What a show of character and pride. After that disappointing loss to Cigarroa, this team turned on the light switch. Our kids take home the silver medals tonight but if they keep playing the way the are and get better throughout the year, there will be some gold medals going home when this is all said and done.

Comments: Jason Garcia was on tonight and we did just enough to sneak by a good Flour Bluff team. Their lefty was the best we have seen this year. I was proud of kids making the best of whatever they gave us to win the game.

Comments: This was the way we wanted to start the Mercedes Tourney. Ruben bounced back with a good game on the mound and we got our sticks going again.

Comments: After a slow start, we got our offense going and Mario pitched another good game. This game was one of those that prepares you for district games on the road. Mercedes had their crowd, their field, and upset on their minds. Our kids keep their composure and got us to the championship.

Comments: Congratulations to the repeat champions. Our kids had a great tourney. We out-scored our opponents 35-1. Our pitching was great and we hit the ball well all three days. Getting All-Tourney were Jason Garcia, Mario Ramirez, Ruben Cisneros, and Andrew Rodriguez. Well, we now host our tournament starting Thursday. For all you Jersey fans, be advised that the tournament will be at Aviator Field in Robstown due the construction being done on our field.

Comments: What a test of character! Down by 3 we crawled our way back and in the bottom of the 7th we needed two runs and we got 2 of our 5 hits to tie it up. Then we went into the 8th to win it on a clutch single by Mario Ramirez. We now go on to face Edcouch-Elsa.

Comments: We came out swinging and Jason overpowered Riviera. Our kids have been playing well. I have been very pleased with their mental approach before each game. We now get ready for normal scheduled games and our weekly routine. Winning two tournaments and finishing second in the other is not bad at all. Congratulations to Jason, Mario, Smiley, and Ruben for being selected to the all tourney team. We now look forward to the Sinton game Tuesday. It is always good to measure yourself up to a great program like theirs and see where you stand at this point in the year.

Comments: Well, when it rains it pours. We had one bad inning in the second and we could not get anything going offensively. Sinton is as good as i thought they would be. We didn't play our game and they did. Hopefully we will see them down the road and the sun will shine on the green team.

Comments: Thank God spring break is over. Our kids have just not been themselves all week. Our bats have gone silent and when we hit, we hit right at someone. Ruben pitched good enough to win again but we did not support him enough. Bishop did a great job of staying around to take advantage of everything we gave them. They were the better team today. Well, things don't get any easier as we prepare to play Robstown on Monday. I am waiting to see our kids step up to the plate and make things happen.

Comments: This was a big win for us. After two tough losses our kids showed their true character. This was a well played game. Both pitchers did a great job. Smiley Alegria had a big double to give us the edge. This was a special win because anytime you can beat a true legend and the tradition that Robstown has it becomes a quality win. Well, we now get ready for district as we play San Diego on Friday. The game has been switched to San Diego due to our field not being ready for play yet.

We now get ready for Riviera, our last tune up before the Zapata game. The game will be played at Riviera due to the construction at our field.

Mario pitched well tonight and we just overpowered their young pitcher. The next game is against Zapata. A win could wrap up the district championship. Congratulations to our kids for putting together another 20 game winner so far this year.

Comments: What a game! In front of a sold out house, this one had everything you wanted to see in a high school game. We had great pitching, defense, and clutch hitting. We got pushed to the limit and we responded. I was very pleased with our effort and the kids never gave up. We've got to work on our defense and our pitching. We made to many errors to beat a team like Moody and we walked too many people. This warm up game was just what we needed. We now await the winner of Mathis and Gonzales for our area opponent.
