2007 Regional Quarterfinal Play-Off Box Scores

Regional Quarter-Final Game #1

5/18/2007 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9  R H E
Falfurrias 3 0 0 0 0 2 0 - - 5 7 1
Yoakum 0 1 0 2 0 1 0 - - 4 4 2

Winning Pitcher: Jason Garcia 10-0 11k's
Leading Hitters: Jason Garcia 3-3 2b sb, Ruben Cisneros 2-1, Mando Cabrera 2-3 2rbi's, Eric Silvas 1-3 rbi.
Comments: What shaped up to be a showdown between two of region 4 best pitchers became a game in which the last team with momentum would win. Fortunately for us, our kids came through at the right time and never let up. Jason reached deep in the 6th and 7th and shut the door on Yoakum. This was a big win since their pitcher had thrown well over 100 pitches and would not be available tomorrow.

Regional Quarterfinal Game #2

5/19/2007 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9  R H E
Yoakum 1 0 0 2 1 0 - - - 4 10 2
Falfurrias 1 0 1 1 0 0 - - - 3 4 2

Losing Pitcher: Ruben Cisneros 6-5 7 k's
Leading Hitters: Ruben Cisneros 2-4 3b, 2b, Smiley Alegria 1-3, Eric Silvas 1-2.
Comments: Game two just did not go our way. It seemed that everything they hit fell and everything we hit was right at them. I'll give our kids credit, they battled regardless how things were going. They came out on a mission and I really felt that they were more focused than they appeared to be and that was the big difference in this game. We now go to game 3 and it is loser go home.

Regional Quarterfinal Game #3

5/19/2007 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9  R H E
Falfurrias 3 3 0 1 0 9 x - - 16 10 2
Yoakum 0 0 0 2 0 4 x - - 6 4 2

Winning Pitcher: Mario Ramirez 8-0 7 k's
Leading Hitters: Jason Garcia 1-5 rbi sb, Ruben Cisneros 1-3 rbi, Smiley Alegria 1-1 rbi 5 runs, Mando Cabrera 2-2 2b 4rbi's, Eric Silvas 1-2 2rbi's, Mario Ramirez 3-4 3 rbi's, Lando Guerra 2-4 rbi.
Comments: Game 3 felt like a roller coaster. We got off to a good start and then we went down hill. Then we came back with our bats only to lose control and all of a sudden we were only up by 1. Our kids regrouped and settled down and Mario regained his confidence and shut the door on the Bulldogs. Give them credit — when it looked bleak they kept their heads up and gave us a tremendous scare. Our kids were just a lot more focused and disciplined at the plate in game three. The difference in the series was our pitching depth and it was quite evident as Yoakum went through several pitchers. We now know why we had 6 kids pitch throughout our season for series like this one. On a side note Jason Garcia now becomes the single season record holder for stolen bases as he reached the 34 mark. It was neat to have Gabriel Pulido present who happened to be the record holder. Well, we now go on to play Medina Valley on Thursday. The last time we played Medina Valley was in the Regional Finals back in '97 I believe. This is going to be a great challenge for our kids.
