Comments: Welcome back Jersey fans. Our season got off with us playing a good team in the Hebbronville Longhorns. We got off to a good start with 2 quick runs but our defense and our pitching got off to a typical first game jitters. I was very proud of the guys on how they hung in there through out the game. We had our chances to tie it in the 4th but didn't come through. Our pitching hit a wall in the 6th and the game got away from us. We now focus on the Border Olympics this weekend. Our goal right now is to get better game by game until we face Ingleside for our first district game.

Comments: We got off to a good start and let them stay in the game and eventually they made the plays and got the key hits to win the game. Tommy looked good in spots and then his inexperience showed up. We have to play better defense if we are going to be successful this year. I was pleased with our offense.

Comments: This one got away from us. We hit the ball well but we left the bases loaded in our last at bat and that was the difference in the game. Mark Gomez struggled early and then found it late to keep us in the game.

Comments: This one was over from the first inning. We couldn't throw strikes and couldn't catch fly balls and that led to disaster against Moody. We did find one bright spot in Henry Cruz who came in and threw strikes and did not let the mighty Trojans intimidate him.

Comments: We finally put enough together to win one. Joe David did a good job in going the distance and our offense again pulled us through this one. We had some shakey moments on defense but we buckled down in the late innings and pulled this one out for our first win of the year. All in all we saw a lot of things we need to work on and we saw some bright spots. Our team's make up is starting to take shape and I like what I see. We are just so far behind this year due to the weather and we had many players play basketball that delayed our start. We now get ready to face the Bishop Badgers on Monday night in Fal.

Comments: This was a great game between two friendly rivials. Bishop came into the game ranked #1 in 2A and they deserve all the credits they earned. We battled all game long. We gave the game away and then took it back. We made some great plays after some knuckle head plays. Our pitching did a lot better job tonight and our offense continues to come through. This game was a character builder. Any time you can come back on your last at bat with two outs speaks volumes. We next head to Mercedes to face some valley schools at the Mercedes Tournament.

Comments: This was a well played game by both teams. La Feria got one more key hit than we did and the game ended on a tough call at 3rd. Tommy Silvas did a great job tonight as did the whole team. We did get better tonight and that is what our first goal is at this time of year.

Comments: What looked to be a great for us turned into a nightmare. We couldn't throw strikes and couldn't make the 3rd out to get out of jams. We've got to find some consistency in our pitching if we are going to compete in our district this year. The good news is that these kids work hard and we still have 6 games to get better before district starts.

Comments: I told our kids last night that today's game was going to be a character test. I was really proud on how our seniors led today and put us back on track. Mike Longoria pitched better today and we took everything they gave us. We now get ready to face Riviera on Monday and then host our tournament this coming weekend.

Comments: This was a good character builder for our team. Riviera jumped on us and we came back and then extended the lead to only see it go in the 5th. Our kids have learned not to give up and to hustle at all times and I feel that made the difference in this game. We beat out every error they made and Mark Gomez and our defense came through when it had to. There is nothing like ending a game with a double play. We now get ready for our tourney starting Thursday.

Comments: We had our hitting shoes on tonight and Mark Gomez pitched a good game. Anytime you beat your rival to the North is a good night. Our kids came out focused and ready to play. We now face Odem for the right to face Hebbronville which also won it's pool.

Comments: This was a good game against the best team in our area right now. We lost our composure late in the game and it cost us. I hope we learned from this game. The last thing I told our guys was how are we going to react to failure? We now face Odem for third place.

Comments: Our kids responded that way they needed to. They were focused and ready to improve from last night’s tough loss. Mike pitched a good game and our bats came to play today. This ends our non-district schedule. I feel we are prepared to go into battle with the teams in District 31-3A. Our pitching has improved and our offense has been our strength all year long. Making the all-tourney team were Robo Cruz and JD Cisneros.
