Leading Hitters: Guerra and Figuroa each had 1 hit with 1 RBI
Comments: This was a great finish to what started off like things had been going for us lately but our kids fought to the end. Daniel had 16 k’s and it almost went for nothing but Ifeel the competition we have be playing has prepared us to always believe we have a chance to win. We now get ready for our tournament.

District Game #2

Winning Pitcher: Guerra
Leading Hitters: Perez and Regalado each had 2 hits with 2 RBIs; Garcia and Guerra each had 2 hits with 1 RBI
Comments: Rain Rain go away was the battle cry our team had today. We played really well tonight. Abel pitched a great game and our offense found a good rhythm. Chris Regalado and Gavin Perez had some great at bats with runners in scoring position. The win puts us at 2-0 in district. We now go to West Oso for a non-district game.

District Game #3

Falfurrias 0 4 6 3 x - - - - 13 9 2

Winning Pitcher: Figueroa
Leading Hitters: Gonzalez and Pena had one hit and 2 RBIs each. Cruz, Arevalo, and Guerra each had one hit and one RBI.
Comments: The kids came prepared to play today. Dusty, Gavino, and Nic threw a no-no which was what we needed today to regain so confidence in our pitching staff. We swung the bats better today and we ran the bases a lot better than yesterday. We now prepare for the tough stretch of our schedule starting with Santa Rosa on Tuesday.

District Game #4
3/18/2014 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9  R H E

Santa Rosa 3 0 0 0 0 3 0 - - 6 7 5

Winning Pitcher: Guerra 12 Ks
Leading Hitters: Garcia, Cruz, & Figueroa each had 2 hits with 2 RBIs
Comments: This was a huge road win for us. Our kids came to play and hit the ball as well as wehave all year. Abel had a gusty game with 12 k’s. We now get ready for the Bishop Badgers which will be for first place in the first round. This game was the confidence booster we needed in order to get ready for the defending champs.

District Game #5
3/21/2014 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9  R H E
Bishop 4 1 0 4 1 0 0 - - 10 12 2
Falfurrias 0 3 0 0 0 0 0 - - 3 4 3

Losing Pitcher: Figueroa
Leading Hitters: Cruz 1 hit , 1 RBI
Comments: This game had a sick feeling from the start. Dusty couldn’t find the strike zone and defensively we didn’t give ourselves a chance to come back. Their pitcher did a good job of keeping us from getting anything going after the second. We lost our composure and let the emotions of the rivalry take the best of us. I will give our kidscredit for showing up and giving it what they could. I’ll make no excuses, they outplayed us but 6 of our players were sent home with the stomach virus and were not 100% and that included yours truly and my assistant Coach Perez. We got this bug and it spread through the team. We got to get healthy physically and mentally as we get ready to face our next big challenge in the Riviera Seahawks next Friday. We play Progresso Tuesday on our bye game.

District Game #6
3/28/2014 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9  R H E
Falfurrias 0 0 0 0 0 1 2 - - 3 4 0
Riviera 0 0 1 1 0 0 0 - - 2 4 0

Winning Pitcher: Guerra
Leading Hitters: Saenz and Perez each had 1 hit and 1 run.
Comments: It seems that nothing changes when we play Riviera. We always play very competitive games against each other. Tonight was no different. It was a pitcher’s duel, a defensive game, and our kids just would not give in until the job got done. This was the best game we’ve played this year overall in all phases. I was so pleased with how our young ones stepped up tonight and filled in for our missing starters. It just goes to say how good a job Gus Esquivel is doing with our jv/ freshmen teams. Well that ends the first round and our district goal is still in our control.

District Game #7
4/4/2014 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9  R H E
Falfurrias 2 0 0 3 1 1 2 - - 9 7 0
Hebbronville 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 - - 0 1 5

Winning Pitcher: Arevalo 12Ks
Leading Hitters: Garcia and Figueroa 2 hits, 2 RBI
Comments: After a day wait due to the rain, we got the second half off to a good start. Daniel looked good one the mound and we took advantage of their 5 errors and had some great key hits. We ran bases well, especially against their lefty. We now get ready for Kingsville Academy on Tuesday night.

District Game #8
4/8/2014 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9  R H E
Kingsville Academy 0 0 0 0 1 - - - - 1 2 3
Falfurrias 4 4 4 1 x - - - - 13 12 3

Winning Pitcher: Arevalo
Leading Hitters: Saenz 2 hits, 4 RBIs; Arevalo 2 hits, 2 RBIs
Comments: Today we came out with enough emotions to carry us to victory. Abel and Daniel did a great job of throwing tonight. Our offense swung the bat well, as we had many new surprises like Omar Pena swinging the bat well. We also took advantage of all their mistakes. I told the kids we needed to be more consistent with our defense if we plan on beating the stronger teams in our district. We next get ready for Edinburg Quest this Friday on the road. It will be a 6 pm start time.

District Game #9
4/11/2014 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9  R H E
Falfurrias 10 1 1 1 1 - - - - 14 11 0
Edinburg Quest 0 0 0 0 0 - - - - 0 0 5

Winning Pitcher: Gavino Cruz - no-hitter
Leading Hitters: Garcia 2 runs, 2 hits, 2 RBIs; Perez 3 runs, 1 hit, 1 RBI; Guerra 2 runs, 1 hit, 1 RBI; Regalado 2 runs, 1 hit, 2 RBIs; Saenz 1 run, 2 hits, 2 RBIs
Comments: This game went as well as we expected. We had a game plan to work on our bunting and two strike approach and I felt our kids handled it well. I am very proud of our kids how much sportsmanship and character they showed to their opponent. Congratulations to Gavino Cruz for pitching a no hitter, in fact almost a perfect game. We now get ready for the big week. We got Santa Rosa coming to town Tuesday and a rematch with Bishop on Thursday.

District Game #10
4/15/2014 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9  R H E
Santa Rosa 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 - - 1 2 4
Falfurrias 0 1 0 0 0 6 x - - 7 9 2

Winning Pitcher: Abel Guerra 6 Ks
Leading Hitters: Munoz 1 run, 1 hit, 2 RBIs
Comments: This game was a tight one like we always seem to have with Santa Rosa. Abel pitched a great game and our kids took advantage of every miscue Santa Rosa Made. Our offense came alive late and that enabled us to put the game away. We now get ready for a quick turn-around game verses Bishop on Thursday.

District Game #11
4/17/2014 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9  R H E
Falfurrias 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 - - 0 5 3
Bishop 0 1 0 0 5 0 x - - 6 6 1

Losing Pitcher: Arevalo
Leading Hitters: Guerra 2 hits
Comments: Congratulations to Bishop on winning District championship. They made more plays, and showed more poise than we did tonight. I thought Daniel did an outstanding job on his first trip back on the mound since his knee injury. I felt our kids played hard but we're too emotionally wrapped up in the rivalry rather than just playing the game. Well we got one more big game next Friday versus Riviera for second place and we will also honor our parents and seniors that night.

District Game #12
4/25/2014 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9  R H E
Riviera 0 0 0 1 2 0 0 0 - 3 5 0
Falfurrias 0 0 1 0 0 2 0 1 - 4 6 1

Winnng Pitcher: Arevalo 12Ks
Leading Hitters: Garcia 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBIs; Arevalo and Perez each had 1 RBI.
Comments: Tonight was parent’s night and senior night and it was also one heck of a game. Riviera and us got into one of normal great games. Both teams fought to the end. Daniel pitched his heart out even as he struggled with control he found a way to win. Our defense made playoff type plays. This game will definitely get both teams ready for our bi-district opponents. We ended the district season in second and now go on to play George West as our bi-district opponent this coming Thursday in George West in a best of 3 series.
