2011 Area Box Scores

Area Game #1
2011 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9  R H E
Luling 0 0 2 0 2 0 0 - - 4 4 0
Falfurrias 1 0 0 3 0 0 x - - 5 5 4

Winning Pitcher: Castillo
Leading Hitters: Hernandez 2 for 4, RBI; Gonzales 1 for 3, 3 RBIs; Cisneros 1 for 3, 1 RBI
Comments: Game one was great beginning for our team. We came out and got on the board early and Chris kept them from getting anything going. We made some great defensive plays early to stop some of their rallies. Like any good team, Luling rallied in the 4th and Chris had to refocus and finish the job. What a great game with such a great crowd at beautiful Alamo Heights stadium.

Area Game #2
2011 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9  R H E
Falfurrias 3 0 1 0 0 - - - - 4 4 5
Luling 2 11 1 4 x - - - - 18 14 2

Losing Pitcher: Ramirez
Leading Hitters: Zuniga 1 for 1, 3 RBI; Manny Ramirez, 1 RBI
Comments: Game two started just like we wanted. We felt that if we jumped on them early we would make it hard for them to gain any confidence especially after last night's win. But to their credit they got to Matt early and never looked back. We made too many errors and lost that hunger we had last night. This game ended up being a good old spanking and now we have to regroup for game three.

Area Game #3
2011 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9  R H E
Luling 3 4 2 0 0 0 4 - - 13 14 1
Falfurrias 2 0 0 2 0 4 0 - - 8 17 4

Losing Pitcher: Cisneros
Leading Hitters: Hernandez, 3 for 5, 3 RBIs; Cisneros, 3 for 5, 2 RBIs; Zuniga, Reyes and Carrasco each had 1 RBI
Comments: Game three started like game two ended. We couldn't make pitches and our defense didn't make plays. The game got out of hand with questionable calls and our team losing their composure. But to our team's credit, we regrouped and came storming back to make it a one run game going into the 7th. Chris was pitching on all heart after pitching the night before and we just didn't get any breaks in the 7th and then with a two - one count, their clean-up hitter jacked a granny to give Luling the lead for good. I was so proud of our kids for never quitting even when everything went against them. I have to give credit to the leadership of my 3 seniors. Matt Zuniga, Matt Morales, and Roger Mejia have been some of the best leaders I have ever had in this program. They were great role models and the hardest workers on this team. We are going to miss them and I hope their examples will carry on to next year's group. Well, Jersey Nation, I am so proud of you. You showed up and showed so much pride and spirit that we as coaches and players can never thank you enough. We look forward to next year as we return our entire pitching staff and 8 defensive starters. Before you know it 258 days will pass by and another Jersey baseball season will get underway and new memories will be made. The sun will come out tomorrow and the tradition of Jersey baseball will continue….
P.S. Thanks again Mr. Pulido for keeping this website going. Your dedication to our players and fans is second to none. God Bless you and have a nice summer and we'll see you in Laredo.
